City of Toronto and One Community Solutions Class Action - Unpaid Wages
Taylor Mergui Law Group has launched a class action lawsuit against the City of Toronto and One Community Solutions, a city contractor.
For five years, employees of One Community Solutions (OCS) have provided security services at encampments, homeless shelters, safe injection sites, and city buildings in Toronto. Toronto City Hall has provided over $40,000,000 in contracts to OCS, largely to pay these employees.
OCS employees are exposed to dangerous conditions every day, often involving drug use and violence. Despite this, OCS has repeatedly failed to pay its employees on time. It has failed to pay overtime pay to employees who sometime work up to 100 hours weekly. It failed to pay mandatory pandemic pay in 2020.
The City of Toronto has been aware of OCS' employment practices for years, but has not only taken no action, but given the company millions more in staffing contracts.
Taylor Mergui Law Group is proud to represent these workers - who perform critical frontline services for Toronto residents - in holding the OCS and the City accountable for poor working conditions and withholding pay.
